MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
Ordinary membership to COPACSO is open to all district-based organizations, national and international non-governmental organizations, and missions.
Membership in COPACSO is open to groups and organizations that:
- Are registered.
- Share its vision and organizational values.
- Are non-partisan and free from political and activism issues.
- Have among their objectives activities related to pastoral livelihoods.
- Share information on their programs with COPACSO.
- Are willing to regularly meet at COPACSO general meetings and other programs when called.
- Are able to pay membership fees and annual subscription.
- Can commit time to the fulfillment of their objectives related to activities in pastoralism.
- Are willing to partner with COPACSO in one way or another with regard to these activities.
- Have a clear constitution with a vision, mission, and goals that align with COPACSO’s objectives, and are involved in poverty alleviation, monitoring, evaluation, policy formulation, and research.
- Are willing to offer their talents, time, and services as a gift to community work and simultaneously enrich the organization.
Procedure for Application and Approval by the COPACSO Executive Committee:
- Complete the Membership Application: All membership applications must be filled out and submitted to COPACSO. Forms will be provided upon request.
- Provide Required Information: Include details on your organization’s objectives, activities, districts of operation, and interests. Attach the organization’s constitution, certificate of registration, and other relevant documents.
- Submit a Recommendation: Attach a recommendation for affiliation to pastoralism from the District or Chief Administration Officer or Community Development Officer.
- Executive Committee Review: The Executive Committee will review applications. Approved applicants will be presented to the General Meeting for final approval.
- Payment of Membership Fees: After approval, new members will be required to pay the membership fees and can then be officially listed as COPACSO members.
Membership Application Form:
To apply, please submit the following:
- A completed application form.
- A recommendation from the District or Chief Development Officer or Community Development Officer.
- Certificate of registration and an organization profile.
- Information on your activities.
Categories of Members
COPACSO has two categories of membership:
- Ordinary Members: Organizations that share COPACSO’s vision and are committed to promoting its objectives, particularly in the area of pastoralism and related activities.
- Associate Members: Members by invitation of the General Assembly, recommended by the Executive Committee. Associate members may attend the General Meeting but do not have voting rights.
Membership Fees
All organizations joining COPACSO as ordinary members are required to pay a one-time membership fee:
- Community-Based Organization (CBO): UGX 100,000.
- Non-Governmental Organization (NGO): UGX 150,000.
Annual Subscription Fees
COPACSO ordinary members are also required to pay an annual subscription based on their membership category:
- Community-Based Organization (CBO): UGX 50,000.
- District-Level NGO: UGX 70,000.
- National-Level NGO: UGX 150,000.
