A Leader in Pastoralist Rights

COPACSO is the leading coalition of civil society organizations advocating for and working
alongside pastoralist communities in Uganda. Established in 2005 and officially registered in 2011,
we represent over 20 member organizations committed to promoting the rights, development,
and well-being of pastoralists across the country. COPACSO works tirelessly to ensure
that every pastoralist community has access to the advocacy,
resources, and support they need to thrive
and fully participate in society.

With a broad network of member organizations situated across Uganda’s cattle corridor and beyond, COPACSO’s influence reaches from local communities to national and regional policy spaces. Our members are on the frontlines, ensuring that pastoralists receive the support, services, and opportunities needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our member organizations provide a wide variety of services, supports, and advocacy for pastoralists.

Our Objectives

Policy Advocacy

To engage in advocacy for pro pastoralist policies, laws
and development at local, national and regional levels;

Public Engagement

To influence change in public perceptions about pastoralism through media; Documentation and Research; and

Capacity Development

To strengthen the capacity of COPACSO members and other stakeholders to articulate, lobby and
advocate for pastoralist rights; and Organizational capacity and development.
